Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She received an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. She was on the panel in 1988's presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy reports, including arm control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended various summits while in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
